The Singapore Institute of Food Science & Technology (SIFST) and the Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST) of the United Kingdom are the respective national professional bodies. Both recognise their international responsibilities in food science and technology and the important role of the International Union of Food Science & Technology (IUFoST).

Without in any way detracting from the role of IUFoST, or from the direct relationships that each of our Institutes has with other national food science and technology bodies, the two Institutes have agreed that there would be substantial merit in direct collaboration between them in matters of common interest and concern, on an equal and reciprocal basis.

Accordingly, they jointly announce that they formally recognise each other as Co-operating Societies and each appoints a person to act as Liaison with the other.

The SIFST Liaison to IFST will be Dr Lee-Ong Ong Kim Lian.

The IFST Liaison to SAAFoST will be Helen Gay Wild, Chief Executive.

The initial areas of collaboration will be food safety, public information on food matters, Websites and publications.
